DEMO: Prud’hon Technique

This ones an oldie but a goodie, but maybe you all haven’t seen it yet.  Rebecca Alzofon posted a demonstration some years ago (see the tilde!?) of Paul Prud’hon’s charcoal technique.  http://www.art.net/~rebecca/OnPrudon8a.html  The previous pages on her site are a realy interesting investigation of technique and materials, starting here: http://www.art.net/~rebecca/OnPrudon1.html - scroll to the bottom of each page to the pointy hands to go to the next page.

Upon reflection, is it really a Prud’hon-type method like you might get in an atelier?  Well, that’s doubtful.  But when I first saw it, so may years ago, it really changed the way I looked at charcoal, it’s application and possibilities.  It’s more than just a dust-making Crayola.  LOL

So I hope you like it.
