Linda Tracey Brandon posted a neat tip on her blog - use binoculars to make life drawing easier and more accurate.  Really!  Read about it here: Linda Tracey Brandon’s Blog: Using Binoculars.

I first learned this from a fellow painter/teacher. The great thing in her case was she had a small, extrememly inexpensive set of binoculars from a chain drugstore! The focus was certainly adequate to the task and they were so light they didn’t cause the arm strain Linda mentioned (or neck strain if you hang them from a strap). With all us baby boomers, eyesight really has become an issue for many…especially in a room full of artists where close proximity to the model may not be an option. Thanks for reminding me…I’m headed to Walgreens!!

That’s really a great idea - way better than walking right up to the model and sticking your face in theirs. (Which I think is a bit disconcerting for them…).
